A Real Conversation: Q&A Style Group Mentorship Program
A Real Conversation: Q&A Style Group Mentorship Program
I recently taught at a beautiful writing retreat. A past client who I’d worked with for several months was there. She was working on revisions during the retreat and she seemed…stalled.
The motivation was there, her alarm was set for sunrise writing, she knew the places in her manuscript that needed that butterflies-in-the stomach, soul-stirring life. Circumstances and desire were as close to perfect as you could get. Then why wasn’t the “life” her novel needed showing up?
During one of the workshops, she shared a personal story about her and an ex-friend. As I listened, watched as her heart opened more and more with every word, I thought, “This. This right here is it!”
After the workshop we sat beneath palm trees with the sun on our faces and I said, “your main character and her ex-friend have the same relationship dynamic as you and your ex-friend. That’s where you need to go.”
The look on her face when she got it. Oof! She was awakened.
We talked for another 45 minutes about all the ways she could bring this new discovery and approach to her work. The life her novel was missing had finally showed up.
Because all it takes is a real conversation about you and the details of your work-in-progress to find your flow again. To find your right inspiration that moves you to action that feels good and right for you.
A Real Conversation: Q&A Style Group Mentorship Program, Moving Fiction Writers into Flow is for…well, fiction writers, who are working on a manuscript. This can be anywhere from first drafts to revisions, short stories to novels (not including sci-fi, fantasy, or romance).
We'll meet weekly for 90 minutes where I’ll answer any writing/writing life questions and talk through what feels scattered, stalled, scary and bring it back around to what feels like an honest expression of you and your characters. We’ll go deep into specific questions about your manuscript to find your right answers. (This is why it’s important that you are actively working on a draft—without your questions, we’ll be on Zoom just staring at each other which does little to help you move through the writing. Sigh If only it were that easy.)
There’ll also be a group chat (not Facebook) where you’ll have me two days a week for follow-up questions and answers we didn’t get to in session. In the chat, you’ll also have the support of the group, and when you’re deep in a writing season, support from your peers that get it is everything.
But Tiffany! You already knew that person’s story on the retreat because she was a past client, that’s why you could help her. Will you still be able to help me?
Trust me, I see how you got there.
But I’ve “cracked the case,” so to speak, in first meetings with authors more times than I can count, simply by having a few pieces of information about them and their book. When you join A Real Conversation, you’ll be sharing similar information so that by our start date on May 13, I’ll be able to help right away.
Details are important:
90-minute group sessions on Tuesday, May 13, 20, 27; June 3, 10 at 6pm EST (recordings available)
Group chat (not Facebook) where you’ll have my ear two days a week
Pre-work so I can get to know you and your story (this is like an in-depth intake form)
8 people maximum
Investment: $750
